Gobal Health Equity
The World Health Organization defined health as a "state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity". We must strive to make the highest attainable health accessible to all. That is equity. That is global health.
The world is always changing. New challenges arise and progress is made. Curricula for global health must adapt to meet the needs of our time. Even our language has changed. From tropical medicine to international health to global health to global health equity - our perspectives and understandings continue to evolve. Universal Health Coverage, a WHO sustainable development goal (target 3.8), must include peri-operative care to address diseases and injuries amenable to surgical correction, obstetric care, and critical care.
This course is a curation of free and open-access resources and aims to present the core competencies for any global health professional with special attention to peri-operative care, including Anesthesiology, Surgery, and Critical Care.
