Perioperative Point Of Care UltraSound  

Using a case-based discussion, learners will understand how to apply ultrasound in the evaluation and assessment of the following:
  • Gastric ultrasound for liquid and solid contents
  • Basic cardiac assessment for structure and function
  • Intravascular volume assessment using the inferior vena cava
  • Lung ultrasound evaluation of edema, pneumothorax, effusion
  • Assessment for deep venous thrombosis in the lower extremities
  • Free fluid in the abdomen
  • Evaluation of the bladder volume and integrity

This course attempts to outline the POCUS fundamentals that are most useful in the perioperative period for rapid assessment and decision making.
